James "Jim" Louis Corwin, "Grandpa with the Big Truck," age 56, of Buffalo went to meet his Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 22 at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo with Rev. John P. Folkerds officiating. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel and continues one hour prior to the service at church.
Jim was born on June 6, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Bill and Luella (Andert) Corwin. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Hill High School, Class of 1966.
He entered the U.S. Army on June 17, 1968 and was honorably discharged on June 16, 1970. Decorations received include the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars; Air Medal Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and the Bronze Star Medal.
Jim spent his life in a profession he loved, truck driving. His greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as "Grandpa with the Big Truck" and will be greatly missed.
Survived by: wife, Karen (Dehmer) Corwin; children, Jonathan (Mary) Corwin; daughter, Laurie Corwin; mother, Luella Kipka; stepsons, Robert Eull and Kevin (Jodi) Eull; granddaughters, Cassandra, Caitlyn, Cora, Jade and Karissa; grandsons, Tristan and Jerrit; sister, LuAnn Kipka; brother, Jeff Kipka, and many relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by: his father and sons, Gerrit and Justin Eull.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.
