Mrs. Anna Damme died Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, December 12, 1911. Her death was not unexpected, as she had been ailing since early last spring. Anna Neemann was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, July 31, 1845. She came to Otoe County, Nebr., when young. In 1871 she was married to Fritz Damme and to them ten children were born. There were three children by a former marriage of her husband and to these she was a mother, true and kind. She loved and was loved by these as her own children even in later years the affection was unchanged. She was a woman held in the highest esteem by all. She followed the footsteps of her Master and taught her children to hold high all kind of church work. The family was seldom missing at any church services. She set an example for many.
Mr. Damme died May 16, 1909. The oldest son, George, died May 16, 1897. Three children died quite young. Deceased is mourned by three sons, Charles, Herman and John, her six daughters, Mrs. Louise Butz, Mrs. Minnie Weber, Mrs. Christine Schacht, Mrs. Katie Nabor, Mrs. Caroline Abele, and Miss Mathilde Damme. Her sister, Mrs. Martin Hempken, at Great Bend, Kans., four brothers, Harm, Gerhard, Albert, and Dick Neemann and more than one-hundred close relatives. The body was laid to rest in St. Paul's cemetery where her husband and children, her parents and her two sisters are also sleeping and awaiting the coming of the great resurrection morning.
