John B. Sizemore was the son of Thomas B. and Katherine Weston Sizemore and the younger brother of Kern M. Sizemore and the uncle of Hillery Walter Sizemore. He was well known in the Pumpkin Valley area as a blacksmith and also farmed.

He married Samantha Jane Livesay Sizemore on 29 Sept. 1886 and they had seven children together.
