David was the son of David and Mary George Barton. He married Henry Etta Cox about 1884. Their sons, David Tollie Barton, Louis Fonda Barton and William Terrell Barton and daughters, Pearl Barton Haws, Bertha Curtis Barton Hortman, Opal Olga Barton Keetch and Mary Barton Shirey Alexander, are also buried in Garden of Memories. Their daughter, Thelma Barton Holtz, is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, TX. Their son, Lee Boyd Barton, is buried in Laurel Land Memorial Cemetery in Fort Worth. After Henry Etta's death, David married Jane Pope Crawford. She is buried with her first husband, Joseph A. Crawford, in Crawford Cemetery.
