Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the First Baptist Church in South Boston, conducted by the Rev. Walton Connelly, Jr., and Dr. Frank Riley. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Active pall bearers were H. N. Winston, T. B. Winston, A. H. Clark, L. P. Perkins, E. T. Walker and Frank Sizemore.
Mrs. Chandler was born in Granville, N. C. on October 8, 1889 a daughter of J. K. Clement and Mrs. Laura A. Winston Clement and was married to J. B. Chandler, Sr. She was educated at Sunnyside Academy at Clarksville. A retired school teacher, Mrs. Chandler was active in the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Women's Missionary Society work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Boston.
She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. C. T. Mills and Mrs. S H. Grimsley both of Alexandria; Mrs. G. R. Coble of Graham, N. C., and Mrs. R. B. Llewellyn of Winston-Salem, N. C.; four sons, W. L. Chandler of Richmond; C.C., T. L., and J. B. Chandler, Jr., all of South Boston; one sister, Mrs H. W, Shelton of High Point, N. C.; one brother, W. S. Clement of Roanoak, and 13 grandchildren.

Mrs. Esma Clement Chandler, 67, of South Boston died Thursday at her home. A retired School teacher, Mrs. Chandler was a native of Granville county N. C., and was educated at the Sunnyside Academy at Clarksville. She is survived by her husband J. B. Chandler Sr. of South Boston; four daughters, Mrs. G. R Coble of Graham N C.; Mrs R.B. Llewellyn of Winston-Salem N C.; and Mrs C. T. Mills and Mrs. S. H. Grimsley of Alexandria; four sons, W. L. Chandler of Richmond and C. C. , T. L. and J B. Chandler Jr. of South Boston; one sister, Mrs H. W.Shelton of High Point, N. C.; one brother W. S. Clement of Roanoke, and 13 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p. m. My grand aunt Esma Mary married Joseph Beale Chandler on 8 Apr 1913 in Sassafras Fork, Granville Co, NC. A newspaper report of her marriage is shown on her husband's memorial.
