Alice Edith Armacost

Services for Alice E. Armacost 66, Coos Bay, will be conducted at 11am Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Park, Coos Bay. The Rev. Malcolm Turkington will officiate with services under the direction of the Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson.

A lifetime coast resident, Mrs. Armacost was born April 15, 1916, at Walport, Oregon and died Oct.9 at Coos Bay of Cancer. She had been very active in many ceramic associations and had owned, operated and taught classes at the Alar Ceramic Studio in Coos Bay for the past 37 years.

Alice was a very talented artist and painted many many beautiful items. Her favorite was China painting, which takes many hours to achive. Alice also true to her roots loved fishing and crabbing on the Oregon coast with her brothers.

She is servived by a son, Gerold D. Armacost(Gary)of Coos Bay, daughters, Louise Williams of Coos Bay and Mary Alice Kronenberg of Scottsdale, AZ.; Brothers, Joseph S. and Fred W. Morrison both of Coos Bay and Philip A. Morrison of Grants Pass; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Jesse W. Armacost in 1980. Her Mother Mary A. Morrison in 1938. Father Joseph S. Morrison Sr.in 1944, Sister Bertha M. Gallino in 1970, and a Brother Russell W. Morrison in 1973.

The Family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1154 Park Ave. Coos Bay, OR 97420.


When Alice Edith Morrison was born on April 15, 1916, in Waldport, Oregon, her father, Joseph, was 53 and her mother, "Addie", was 22. She married William "Bill" C. Day and they had two children together between 1934 and 1936. She then married Jesse Wilsey Armacost and they had one child together in 1945. Alice died on October 9, 1982, in Coos Bay, Oregon, at the age of 66.
