Charles Ameter, age 78, former resident of Olney, died March 13 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mabel Bushart, near Doniphan, Mo., where he had made his home for the past year.
Mr. Ameter was a resident of Olney for many
years and claimed the distinction of having witnessed 75 of the famous Olney May Day school parades. He was a former night watchman at the Olney Sanitarium, and prior to that had been employed at Olney hotels for many years as a night watchman. He was a member of the Olney Odd Fellows lodge for nearly 50 years.
Funeral services and burial were held in Missouri.
