Mrs. Sarah Baker Is
Laid To Rest Tuesday
Following a long illness, Mrs. Sarah Baker, for nearly three-quarters of a century a resident of Stark county, passed away at her home on Lyon court in this city Sunday, November 10. Mrs. Baker, who was the widow of the late J. H. Baker, former mayor of the City of Toulon, was aged 75 years at the time of her death.
Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Arnold Kuzee, pastor of the Baptist church, being in charge. Rev. Kuzee was assisted by Rev. B. E. Allen, of Rockford, a former pastor of Osceola Baptist church.
The song service was given by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. E. H. Lloyd, Mrs. E. B. Packer, H. W. Walker and George S. Walker. The selections were "Saved by Grace," "No Night There" and "When They Ring the Golden Bells."
The body-bearers were E. E. Brown, H. Murchison, F. C. McClenahan, M. D. Dewey, C. P. Dewey Jr., C. E. Griffith.
Interment was in Toulon cemetery.

F. Gibbs; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Haxton, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Murchison; Mrs. H. H. Himes, Mrs. Maud Rush, Mrs. Susie Snow, Miss June Snow, all of Galva; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gibbs, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. White, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Everett White, all of LaFayette; E. E. Brown and family, of Wyoming; A group of department managers from the Baker-Linder store in Rockford also attended.

Sarah Ellen Williams was born in Wabash county, Indiana, June 11, 1854, and passed away at her home in Toulon November 10, 1929, being 75 years, 4 months and 29 days of age.
In 1856, her parents came to Illinois, settling near LaFayette. Since that time, she had lived in that vicinity or in Toulon – seventy-five years in or near Stark county.
She was united in marriage October 22, 1872, at Galva to John Herbert Baker who preceded her in death June 12, 1928. This union was blessed with five children, two of whom, Ella Elmira and Susie, died in infancy. Three children remain, these being Charles H., of Rockford; and Ida B. and Rena M., of Toulon.
Mrs. Baker is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Charles Williams and Mrs. Lydia Emery, of Galva; John Williams, of Alta, Iowa; Miss Elma Williams, of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. S. E. White, of LaFayette. A brother, W. J. Williams, of Jamesport, Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Miner, of Toulon, preceded her in death. She also leaves three grandchildren, John H., Harold and Dorothy Baker, of Rockford.
Early in life Mrs. Baker became a member of the church. She had been a member of the Toulon Baptist church since the family moved here.
