Coletta A. Bender, 67, of 280 Thunderbird Rd. S.E., died Friday evening, April 26, 2002, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Services: 10 A.M. Tuesday at First Congregational Church by Rev. Matthew W. Noffke, Rev. Dr. Glenn D. Hunt, and Pastor Barbra A. Keiper. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 P.M. on Monday and at the church after 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday. Her family includes her husband, The Rev. Dr. Glenn N. Bender, a daughter Melanie Bender of Arlington Heights, Illinois; a son, Clark Bender and wife Kim Kerbis of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Ernest Kratz and wife Marilyn of Yankton, South Dakota; a sister Kay and husband Glenn Schoenfish, of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Marsha and her husband Rollie Beran of Crofton, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents. Coletta was born September 26, 1934 in Olivet, South Dakota, to Clarence R. and Helen Lundborg Kratz. She married Glenn N. Bender on December 23, 1953, in Olivet. Coletta worked as an executive secretary in Alaska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, and as a representative for Welcome Wagon International in Iowa for 16 years. Her education was in liberal arts and literature. She was gracious, intelligent, well-read, insightful, and had a great sense of humor. Coletta loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She belonged to the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter LU. She was a member of First Congregational Church and a faithful partner with her husband in the Christian ministry. Coletta loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established.
Coletta Kratz Bender was the daughter of Clarence/Helen Lundborg Kratz, the granddaughter of Ernest/Matilda Larson Lundborg, and the great-granddaughter of Peter/Maria Lundborg.
