What I can tell you about Gertrude, my Great-grandmother, from my late grandma Ruby and my living mother is in Minnedosa, one of many places she lived ,they lived in a large house which in the basement she rented to boarders. Possible thrashing gangs, laborers etc for extra income for the family.
When she met Conrad which would have been after his first wife Katie has passed away in the late 1940's - 50's, he took her to Saskatchewan to show her his buildings etc.He then moved with Gertrude to Vancouver, BC in the late 1950's.Actual yr unknown
They had no children as it states but his children from his first wife Katie did come and visit. My grandma Ruby and her husband Clifford moved into their big house in Minnedosa. And my grandma also followed suit to her mom and had boarders as well. My mom can remember the house being "freezing".
Then my family the "Forsmans" left Manitoba and headed for the coast in a '39 chev with 3 children.
They moved into a basement suite at first and then Conrad built them a small house to live in one block over from Conrad and Gertrude's home. They were not back to back but you could see from each back yard each other.
Gertrude would hang a red cloth on the clothesline as a symbol to tell her daughter Ruby Bailey Forsman to come and clean her house. So she did. Gertrude as well as my grandmother Ruby both had boarders to bring in extra income for the family.
Conrad's children from his first wife would come and visit and yes I have pics but will post them on Conrad's site. His Mem# on fag is 149459054. When Gertrude passed, Conrad paid for the funeral and buriel at Ocean View Buriel Park in Burnaby, BC. He then apparently went back to Saskatchewan. Idk if they married or were living common law but do know via pics they were happy. So yr of marriage I put is simply a guess. Fag does not give you any options of not knowing.
