Jimmie Lee Anderson Sr., 76, of Statesville, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born February 1, 1937 in Iredell County to the late Olin Jack and Linda Jane Secrest Anderson.
Jimmie was a graduate of Statesville City Schools and served his country in the Army during the Korean War. On January 23, 1993, he married Carolyn Land, who survives. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. He was retired from Allied Waste Sanitation where he was a truck driver and dispatcher.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Carolyn; a son, Jimmie Lee Anderson Jr; a daughter, Donna Sue Elliott; a grandson, Franklin Lee Anderson; and a great grandson Brandon Lee Anderson. He is further survived by five brothers, two sisters, four step-children, and four step great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service with military honors for Jimmie will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tom McCrea officiating. The family will meet with friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the service.
