Caroline Lucy Simi "Carrie" Allen
Took flight with the angels, having passed away at the age of 94 on December 30, 2008. Carrie had been hospitalized at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa after falling and breaking both of her femur bones. Though her 94 year old body was suffering, her humor, mind, and spirit remained lively and well prepared for her pilgrimage to heaven. Carrie was born on August 6, 1914 in the North Beach area of San Francisco where her family lived above the Simi Meat Market on Columbus Avenue. Carrie spent time in Fairfax CA, tending to her grandparents on the family farm on the original Sir Francis Drake Boulevard (now Olema Road). She moved there with her family after her father Caesar retired. Carrie attended St. Anselm Primary School in San Anselmo, and Presentation High School in San Francisco, and has been an active parishioner at Saint Rita's Church in Fairfax for over 70 years. It was at Saint Rita's that Carrie, a young beautiful pump organist, met and fell in love with the choir director, William Francis Allen. Together, the Allens made a home on Marin Street in Manor (now Fairfax), and welcomed six children into this world: William "Bill" Caesar Allen, Joseph "Joe" Francis Allen, Marianne Lucy Fraley, Rita Marie Wyatt, Carol Ann Allen, and Michael "Mike" Peter Allen. Always a devoted housewife, Carrie worked at the Manor Post Office for a time, and spent many devoted and faithful years as a servant to many elder citizens in her community, and helped with Red Robin catering. Family was paramount in Carrie's life, and she enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As the matriarch of the Allen family, Carrie illuminated with an energy and smile that made everyone around her happy and proud to be a part of this wonderful woman's life. A deep devotion to the Blessed Mother nurtured Carrie throughout her life. Though she has left our physical world, she will never leave our hearts, and her spirit watches over those she loved the most. Carrie is preceded in death by her children Marianne and Bill; by her siblings Caesar Simi, Aldo Simi, Roy Simi and Elsie Krile; by her husband William, and by her loving parents Caesar Simi and Amelie Giovannetti Simi. Carrie is survived and eternally missed by her children Joe, Rita, Carol, and Mike; her grandchildren James "Jamie" Cameron Allen, Kelly Braden Allen, Heather Lucy Jordan, Erick Debie, Brian Joseph Fraley, Rudy Wyatt, Robert "Bobby" Patrick Wyatt, Caroline Garrissere Wyatt, and Lori Marie Morford; and her great-grandchildren, Amber Rose Thomas, Bailey Wyatt, Guiliana Lucia Morford, Jakob Fraley, Bella Marie Fraley, and many more yet to come. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Monday, January 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita's Church,100 Marinda Dr., Fairfax. Friends are invited to the Recitation of the Rosary, Sunday, January 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hills Mortuary, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd, Sebastopol.
