Obituary:
WM. P. GUYNES DEAD
A telegram from Hampton Roads, East Virginia, announced the death at that place on Sept 18 of Wm. P. Guynes, aged eighty-two years. He is survived by his wife who resides at Pollock.
Mr. Guynes was a number of years a resident of Pollock, but for the past two years had been an inmate of the Soldiers' Home at Hampton Roads. During his residence in Grant Parish he was always more or less identified with politics, especially in the early days of Grant's political history. He was always known as a Republican and in the early 80's represented Grant parish in the State legislature. In this campaign he was opposed for the place by Mr. H. G. Goodwyn, late editor of the Chronicle, who was beaten in the race by less than a dozen votes, which the election board in a contest allowed to be counted for Mr. Guynes.

William Patterson Guynes was the mayor of Pollock, Louisiana. He ran a local newspaper called The Peoples Demand.
