Birth: 1843
Death: Jan. 31, 1865

Born in Arkansas. Enlisted in the 27th Tenn Inf B Company on 9 September, 1861. Wounded at the Battle of Franklin on 30 November, 1864. Died of wounds in Union Army Hospital # 1 on Jan 31, 1865. Unmarried, left no personal effects. Enlisted in the Confederate Army in Adamsville, McNairy Co, Tenn. Date of death is from Nashville mortician W.R. Cornelius, who kept a log. The number of the entry in that log is 11783. The other data comes from microfilm of the service records of the 27th Tenn Inf. Cause of death was listed as "cannon ball," which hit him in the hip, necessitating an amputation. He died of exhaustion. The round that hit him was most likely from what was called canister. His grave marker incorrectly gives his first name as "William."
