MILDRED ALICE DENTON, age 88 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Whispering Pines Health Care Center, Valparaiso, with her family at her side.
She was born October 11, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Clifford and Mary Agnes (O'Donnell) Purnell and had been a homemaker.
Mildred was a member of Washington Evangelical Free Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 988 in Valparaiso. She enjoyed reading and spoiling her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her 3 children; Judith Mausen, Edward (Clara) Leib, Jr., and James E. (Ronda) Leib, all of Valparaiso; sister, Lois (Gil) Parro of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Danny Lee (Ann) Purnell of Belen, NM; 12 grandchildren, George Allen Bergstrom, Judi Stanton, and Timothy Bergstrom, all of Oregon, Amber Marrs of Valparaiso, James Steel of Duneland Beach, Brad Mausen of LaPlata, MD, Wendy Ehlers of Spotsylvania, VA, Heidi Sanders of Kouts, Josh Leib of Valparaiso, Jessica Gituma and David Leib, both of Iowa, and Stephany Leib of Valparaiso; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and two expected great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands;
Edward Leib, Sr., Richard Johnsen, and Viron Denton, her parents, son; David Allen Leib, daughter; Mary Bergstrom, 3 brothers; Robert Purnell, Cecil Edward Purnell and Wilber Purnell, and a sister; Betty Simnick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso with Pastor Jim Wellsand officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family of Mildred Denton.
