Jane Hunter Bennett, 57, of Valdosta died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 following a short illness with cancer. Jane had been a lifelong resident of this area. She began her career when she worked for several years as a secretary at C&S Bank (now Bank of America). She soon went back to school and then achieved her degree in nursing and after she passed her boards went to work for several doctors' offices including SGMC's Youth Care and Dr. Feldman's office. Jane then went on to work for 15 years at Greenleaf Center until this past year. She had a life long love for horses, which began when she took lessons when she was 12 years old. She continued to ride and compete through high school in English and Five Gait. Fernandina Beach was her place of peace and relaxation. She greatly enjoyed spending time there with family and friends. Jane was a member at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Chuck Laslie of Quincy, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Parks and Ashley Herrington Bennett of Washington, D.C. and Jason and K.C. Bennett, of Valdosta; her mother, Jeanne Hunter Davis Rountree of Valdosta and two grandchildren, Hunter Talmadge Laslie of Quincy, FL and Ansley Diane Bennett; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Bennett, on Jan 31 of this year. Also her father Walter Rountree Hunter, Jr. and her step father, Felton Davis
