Lucy Bunce Long 85, died April 24,2004 at Savannah Hospice.
She was the Great, Great, Great Grandniece of Sir Issac Newton, and beloved wife of Dr. F.Leslie Long for 56 years.
She taught school in different places in the State of Georgia, and Gainesville, FL, where she taught until 1960. In 1982 her and her husband moved back to Richmond Hill, Georgia. Ironically, to the town owned by Henry Ford at one time. Her husband and her worked at Mr. Ford's Research Labs, and when they married, Mr. & Mrs. Ford gave them a wedding present, a house. They traveled extensively, visiting Russia, Africa, China, Australlia, and New Zeeland. Lucy belonged to the Richmond Hill Garden Club,The Bluebird Society, and the PEO Chapter L. Sisterhood.Her husband Leslie and her were charter members of the Richmond Hill Historical Society and members of the Henry Ford Heritage Association. She also was with her Husband, founding donor members to the Ford Piquette Plant. This was the first plant owned by Ford Motor Company, and where the first Model "T" was made. Her husband and her were able to write a book on Mr. Ford, called The Henry Ford Era at Richmond Hill, Georgia in 1998.
