Ainsworth won his naval aviator wings in 1945. His 36 year Navy career took him all over the world and spanned three wars. He was Commander of the Fleet Air Wings Pacific Fleet/Fleet Air Moffett Field from 1972 to 1974.
He is survived by his wife Corrine van Ackere; children, Bob (Konne); Patty; Lynne (Larry Page); Kacy and Chris; five grandsons and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Kacy.
A celebration of Ainsworth's life will be held at the Moffett Field Chapel, on Moffett Field at 2 p.m. Feb.2. A driver's license is required to access the base.
