Halifax Herald 11/1/2008

BAKER, Virginia M. (Ginny), 69, of Dartmouth, passed away October 30, 2008, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion (Pothier) Wells. Ginny was very actively involved with the Girl Guides of Canada for most of her life, having earned her 30 year pin as a leader. She also received the Gold Thanks pin, Gold Merit Award as well as the Fortitude Award and was currently an active member of the Trefoil Guild. One of her biggest passions were her beloved Mooseheads. She was a season ticket holder for over 10 years and never missed a game, even throughout her illness. The Mooseheads honoured her for her dedication by having her drop the puck at their home opener this season. The last game she attended was Pink in the Rink, where the Mooseheads as well as their fans all wore pink in support of breast cancer. Surviving are son, Joe (Carol) Baker; daughter, Susan Baker; grandsons, Robbie and Justin, all of Dartmouth; brothers, Brian and Joseph; half-brother, Michael Bourque, all of Yarmouth. She will be sadly missed by her "granddogs", Bailey, Kassie, Kramer and Zoey. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years (in July), Brian; brothers, Robert, William and Michael. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Dartmouth, Father Jim Richards officiating. Burial will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow in the funeral home.
