John J. Badura, an employee of the Shaver Transportation Company, was drowned in the Columbia Slough Monday night, when he fell from a log raft. He swam for some distance. The captain and pilot of the boat dived into the water in an effort to rescue the young man, but he had sunk before they could reach him. The body was recovered yesterday.
Mr. Badura was a graduate of the '17 class of Washington High School and had won a Reed College scholarship.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. J. Badura, of 1383 East Irving street; a sister, Marie, and three brothers, George, Adolph and Carl Badura. The elder brother, George, is in the Navy.
