Alonzo E. Dimmick was a United States Soldier during the American Civil War of 1861 to 1865.

He enlisted on April 26th, 1861, at New York City, New York, for two years service, at the age of 22, and was mustered into service as a Private in Company B of the 10th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, National Zouaves, on April 27th, 1861. He served with the regiment as part of the 5th Corps, Army of the Potomac, and took part in many of the early actions in Virginia including the Peninsula Campaign, the Battle of Second Manassas, and many other engagements. At the expiration of the regiments term of service they returned to New York and he was mustered out of service on April 24th, 1863, at Fort Monroe, Virginia.

He re-enlisted on August 25th, 1863, at New York City, New York, for three years service, and was mustered into service as a Private in Company A of the 38th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on September 14th, 1863. The 38th Veteran Regiment was merged with several other veteran regiments that were organizing in New York City at the time, and the company was assigned as Company K of the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 14th, 1863. He went west with the Regiment to Kentucky and Tennessee, and at some point took ill during this service and died of disease on December 27th, 1863, at the Regimental Hospital in Union City, Tennessee.
