Estelle Meyers Alexander, 89, of Charlottesville, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born December 23, 1918, in Esmont, a daughter of the late Kate Dillard.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Esmont, where she attended regularly until she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While living in Philadelphia, she met and married the late Andrew Alexander. After his retirement, they moved to South Hill, Virginia, where she joined the Union Hill R.Z.U.A. Church under the leadership of the Reverend Robert Layton. When her health began to fail, she relocated to Charlottesville where she resided at Trinity Mission Nursing and Rehab Center.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her only child, a daughter, Eartha M. Robinson; two brothers, Charlie Henry and Jack Dillard; three sisters, Channie Dillard, Catheleen Toledo Dillard, Mary Edith Anderson; a great-grandson, Twarne T. Dillard; and a son-in-law, Noah Joseph Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, five grandchildren, Nancy Porter, and her husband, Waddell, Alphonso S. Dillard and his wife, Suzette, Waverly T. Dillard and his wife, Janice, all of Charlottesville, Woodrow E. Dillard and his wife, Connie, of Louisa, and Michael L. Dillard and his wife, Teresa, of Fluvanna; 10 great-grand-children, five great-great-grandchildren; three devoted nieces, Doris Morris, Cora Anderson, and Rebecca Rush, all of Esmont; three special friends, George Brown, Edna Smith and Margaret Simmons of South Hill, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Dillard and Florence Dillard of Esmont; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Reverend Lehman D. Bates II officiating.

Services of comfort are entrusted to the staff of McClenny Funeral Services Inc. Doris A. McClenny Mortician.
