The son of John Thomason & Mary _______ . He married Hannah Duncan, daughter of Young Charles Gordon Duncan and Dorcas Lightfoot. These families were Cherokee Indian Old Settlers.
In 1798 the couple moved to Jackson, Georgia. Sometime between 1798 and 1822, John and wife Hannah moved to Hall County, Georgia. This is where they raised 12 children.
In 1836, John enlisted and served in the Hall Co. Georgia Dragoons.
In 1851, five of John Thomason's sons (Zemeriah, Hiram, James Abercrombie Thomason, Young, and Henry D.) migrated with their spouses and 42 children from Georgia to (what is now) Boone County, Arkansas. The group traveled from Georgia with a U.S. Government escort moving Indians to the Oklahoma Territory. This was the beginnings of the many Thomason families in Arkansas today.
