They had 4 children: Martha Frances (b. Sept. 16, 1854 in TN), James Alexander (b. December 11, 1856 in TN and died April 18, 1923 in Wayne Co., MO), William Henry (b. March 13, 1859 in IL), and John Riley (b. October 1, 1861 in IL).
In 1862, Louisa's husband, Hiram, enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War and began serving with the 87th Illinois Infantry, Co. F, out of White Co., IL. According to his military records, he died on February 24, 1863 at Baptist Church Hospital in Memphis, TN during a measles epidemic that swept through camp while he was stationed there.
Louisa never remarried, but moved to Hamilton Co., IL after Hiram's death, then into Missouri for several years. She moved in with her brother, Wiley W. Sr. (my great-grandfather) in 1908 in Carter Co., MO to assist him with his small son, Wiley W. Jr. (my grandfather) whose mother had died. When Wiley Sr. passed away in 1913, she moved into her son James' home until his death in 1923. She then moved to Corning, Clay Co., Arkansas where she lived until her death.
