William F. Bondy is the son of May Brisbois Bondy and Henry Bondy.
He tragically died at the age of two years along with his cousin Juanita Lapham, age 4, while they were playing in a barn on the farm of Eli Lapham in Norvell township, Jackson county, Michigan.
The Brooklyn Exponent reported it in detail: "A straw stack playhouse became a death trap for two little children on the Eli Lapham farm east of vineyard Lake." It did not take long for the fire to burn its way through the dry hay and burn the children to death. Vernie Lapham, whose forearms were scorched and her hair singed, discovered the fire but was driven back by the blaze. Others who arrived were only able to watch.
The newspaper account reports that the two children's remains were place in the same casket and buried in the church yard cemetery three days later on September 5th but their grave was never marked.
Eighty years later family members placed a monument on their graves so that they will be remembered.
