Arthur Leon Bustard, 89, of Cedars, passed away November 14, 2012.

Art was born January 24, 1923 in Cedars, to the late George Arthur and Margaret (Keyser) Bustard.

Mr. Bustard is survived by his wife of 63 years; three children, a son & his spouse; a daughter & her spouse; & a daughter; three granddaughters; a sister.

Mr. Bustard was preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Thomas and Helen Schultz; and a brother, J. Roland Bustard.

Mr. Bustard joined the U. S. Marines in January of 1943, serving in the Pacific aboard the new Carrier U.S.S. Hancock from 1944 until the end of the war, when he was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Bustard was an avid baseball player for the Skippack team in the Perky Valley Twilight League. He managed the team from 1952 to 1975 after an eye injury in 1952 forced him to stop playing ball.

Mr. Bustard continued to serve his country during this time. as a veteran, he was asked to chair one of the two draft boards (#108) in Norristown in 1952 and continued to serve in the volunteer position until the draft was ended in the 1970s.

In 1949 Mr. Bustard joined his uncle, B. Harrison Bustard, and his brother, Roland Bustard, in their advertising specialty business. In 1959, Art and Roland purchased the business from their uncle and formed Cedars Advertising Co. They continued in partnership until 1983. Art continued to own the business until 1987. Cedars Advertising, Inc. is still owned by his son.

Mr. Bustard was a member of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge #558, F. & A.M. since 1944, Lehigh Consistory, Lansdale Royal Arch Chapter 301, & the North Penn Shrine Club. He served as Potentate of Rajah Shrine of Reading in 1981. He was a member of Wentz's U.C.C. in Worcester. For the past 5 years, he and his wife have resided at Dock Woods Retirement Community.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11AM on Monday, November 19, at Wentz's U.C.C., 3246 Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family requests that instead of flowers and cards a donation can be made to the Wentz's U.C.C. endowment fund or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Phila., PA 19140.
