Carolee Anna (Miller) Blair, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at home, surrounded by her family.
Carolee was born November 9, 1932, in Maryville, Missouri, to Paul William Miller and Lucy Belle (Carr) Miller. Carolee attended Maryville High School, graduating in 1950. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and taught Home Economics at Graham, Missouri. She especially enjoyed teaching students to cook and sew and, later in life, said that teaching was one of the most enjoyable experiences of her life.
Carolee married Robert Lee Blair in Maryville, Missouri, on August 9, 1954. He preceded her in death.
In 1960, Carolee moved to St. Joseph where she worked in retail sales for many years for Townsend and Wall, JC Penney, and Village Flowers by Rob.
Carolee was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Grace Miller; and brother, Dale Miller.
Survivors: daughters, Linda White (Mike), Brookfield, Missouri, Lora Goff (Bob), Seminole, Florida, Lisa Beavers (Dave), St. Joseph, and son, Bob Blair (Heidi), Wathena, Kansas; grandchildren, Bethany White, Brookfield, Paula Jessen (Eric), St. Joseph, Brian and Elizabeth Goff, Seminole, Jordan Brown, Kansas City, Missouri; Jaclyn Brown, St. Joseph, Drew Beavers (Anyssa), St. Joseph, Megan Cordova (Jose'), Chillicothe, Missouri, Bailey, Caelan, and Brock Blair, Wathena; three great-grandchildren, Noah Reid, Parker Jessen and Scarlett Cordova; sisters-in-law Barbara Miller, Delores Blair; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolee enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening, playing games, playing cards, cooking, sewing and collecting rocks. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains of Wyoming with her family. Most of all she enjoyed helping other people. She liked to send flowers and cards and visit those who were ill. Carolee will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to everyone.
Carolee was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church where she was a faithful attendee until confined to her home by ill health. Her faith was a great strength and support throughout her life. She was active in church activities and was known for always being helpful to others, especially those in need.
Services 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Miriam Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory. The Family suggests memorial gifts may be made to The Luekemia and Lymphoma Society, Hands of Hope Hospice, or Second Harvest Food Bank.
