He was the son of Simon Asel and Mary Jane Snyder.
Siblings- Aribella, Daniel, Simon P, Jacob, Godfrey William, Frank

His wife was May (--?--) Asel.

Together, they had only one son, Sgt Raymond L Asel, who was orphaned when Benjamin and May both passed away. Raymond joined the military at Yellowstone, Montana, and had then moved to Los Angeles, California, and to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Raymond was tragically lost on USAF aircraft C-54D #42-2469 'Operation Mike', with last contact at Snag, Yukon Territory, Canada, 26 January 1950, and this plane with 44+ military on board has never been found.
