LEPANTO - Alphas Earl Anderson, 86, farm manager, former manager of Portis Grain Elevator, heavy-equipment operator and former mayor, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Osceola.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lepanto First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, with burial in Potter Memorial Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home has charge.

He was a World War II Army veteran, a Mason and a member of the American Legion and Lepanto Volunteer Fire Department.

He leaves two daughters, Alpharetta Brewster of Lepanto and Jimmie Anderson of Memphis, two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Lepanto First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

LEPANTO -- Funeral services for Alphas Earl Anderson, 86, of Lepanto who died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Lepanto. Jim Duffel and Jessie Hodges will officiate, and burial will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto.

Born at Grubbs, he was a farm manager and the manager of Portis Grain Elevator for many years. He was an engineer, a former mayor of Lepanto and an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a Mason, a charter member of the Lepanto Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion, as well as a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Lepanto.

Survivors include two daughters, Alpharetta Brewster of Lepanto and Jimmie Anderson of Memphis; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
