Mildred M. Dixson

ATHENS, Pa. — Mildred M. Dixson, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002.

She was born May 21, 1907, in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of James and Marian Ferguson Mead.

Mildred lived most of her life in Morris, N.Y. She worked for many years at Morris Central School as a cashier/cook in the cafeteria.

She will be remembered by her gift of hospitality to family, friends and traveling missionaries. She was a member of the Morris Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years in the primary department. She loved the Lord, and her home and heart were always open to those in need for a listening ear or transportation to the doctors. She gave her life ministering to family and friends whether for physical, spiritual or emotional needs.

Mildred was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Bruce A. Beardsley; her second husband, F. Earl Dixson; and her daughter, Catherine A. Beardsley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne B. and Kenneth N. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa.; grandchildren, Daniel and Joyce L. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa., Aimee and Phillip Comfort of Bath, N.Y., Nathan B. and Terri L. Cooke of Lancaster, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Peter, Ariel and Victoria; one nephew, Robert Dyckman Jr.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa.

Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Ferguson, pastor of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, officiating and the Rev. John McConnell of the Southside Alliance Church of Elmira, N.Y., co-officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 31 S. Broad St., Morris, NY 13808.
