William Boise

SOUTH NEW BERLIN — William Boise, 72, of State Highway 23, South New Berlin, well-known area farmer and longtime South New Berlin resident, passed away Friday afternoon, Dec. 21, 2001, in the Gilmour Health Care Facility of Norwich.

Bill was born in Sherburne on Jan. 20, 1929, the son of John W. and Viola (King) Boise.

At an early age, he moved with his family to the South New Berlin area, where he attended the local schools.

When he was 14, Bill began working on the family farm, and it quickly became evident that he was a born farmer. Choosing to make farming his life's work, Bill continued to work the family farm with and for his dad until 1964. At that time, he purchased the farm and lived and worked on it with his own family until 1998, when he retired and moved to Amblerville.

On Aug. 30, 1953, in South New Berlin, Bill married Marjorie Fenton, who survives. Besides his wife, Marjorie Boise; Bill is survived by his sons and their spouses, Larry W. and Elaine Boise of South New Berlin, Carl A. and Vicki Boise of Cincinnatus, and Michael B. and Julie Boise of South New Berlin; by his sisters and brother, Helen Daniels and husband, John, of South New Berlin, Gladys Edwards and husband, Les, of Cooperstown and John M. Boise of Brown Mills; and by his six grandchildren, Veronica Whitehill of South New Berlin, Jason Boise, Michael John Boise, George Boise and wife, Jennifer, Matthew Boise and Jenell Boise. Bill is also survived by two great-grandsons.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Shawna Boise, in 1992.

Funeral services for Bill will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at 1 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the Beaver Meadow Christian Church, officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South New Berlin Emergency Squad, care of Treasurer, South New Berlin, NY 13843; or to the Gilmour Health Care Center Activity Fund, 68 Calvary Drive., Norwich, NY 13815.
