F. Myron Bass, 84, of Cuero died Monday, June 2, at his home.
The family will receive friends at Freund Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:30 - 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday at Cuero's First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kent Kinard officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Bass was born June 29, 1901, in Alvarado, Texas, son of Paul Leon Bass and Mattie Cotter Bass.
He married Elnora S. Thompson (Thomson), who died August 20, 1931. Bass, a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, owned and operated Bass Shoe Store in Cuero for 30 years.
He was a 29 year member of the board of directors of Cuero Federal Savings and Loan, a former Cuero Independent School District board member, a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge, a former superintendent of First United Methodist Church's Sunday School and a lay member of the annual Methodist Conference.
Surviving are: a sister, Olivia DeVaux of Cuero; a son, Dr. Frank M. Bass of Dallas; a grandson, Douglas Bass of Dallas; and a brother, James T. Bass of Mt. Vernon.
Pall bearers will be Howard Kleinecke, Gene Graff, Carroll Buchhorn, Vick Henderson, Stayton Weldon, Larry Wolf, Bruce Goodwin and Robert Sollock.
