She was the daughter of Anna (Annie) Christina Kohl. Anna is also buried here at Tecumseh under the name Anna Woodruff.
Mary's mother was first married, I believe, to a man by the name of Pete Wine. He is listed as "father" on Mary's death certificate, although on the 1880 federal census, her surname is listed as Childers. By 1880, her mother was married to a man by the name of John Childers and all 3 were living at Big Ben, Republic Co, KS during the 1880 census. Her mother later divorced John Childers and married for the 3rd time to a man by the name of Levi Woodruff (1844-1912).
Mary & Abram had 5 children: Bessie, James, Joseph, Wallice & Guy.
An old family friend said of Mary . . . "She was a very good natured person and everyone liked her".
Mary died of breast cancer in 1915.
