He was born September 26, 1955. He grew up in Overland Park, and graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. David was a member of Abdallah Shrine, Scottish Rite and Masons. He loved playing baseball and played in the Johnson County 3-2 league for 7 years. David thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing as a young boy with his dad. He loved his children and going to his aunt and uncle's farm in Council Grove, KS. Many happy memories were made there.
After High School he applied to join the Air Force Academy and was accepted. He attended two years and came back to Kansas State University where he received his degree and his Air Force Commission. He spent several years working at the Pentagon in Washington DC before his retirement.
David is survived by his parents of Overland Park, a daughter of San Diego, CA and a daughter of Union, MO; his two sons of Warrenton, VA; and a dear friend of Occoquan, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., July 20, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel, 137 N. Union St., Council Grove, KS. Inurnment will follow at Four Mile Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Hillcrest Christian Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
