Trudy Esther Knowles Albrecht (1956 - 2012)
Trudy Esther Knowles Albrecht August 5, 1956 - August 18, 2012 Trudy Esther Knowles Albrecht was born in San Antonio, Texas, at Lackland Air Force Base to Clara Estelle Judd. The family moved often, but Trudy lived in Turkey for two years, where she started school. They settled in California during Trudy's elementary school days, and she attended Milpitas High School, graduating in 1974. She attended DeAnza and San Jose City junior colleges. Trudy held a number of interesting jobs all over the country, but most recently she spent her working days as a landscape manicurist and designer, focusing on water-wise and xeroscaping. She loved John Wayne, the Blues, Jazz, meeting new people and making all who knew her happier. Trudy was an avid motorcyclist. In addition to traveling all over the USA, she rode the U.S. Four Corners in 19 days, a ride to the four furthest corners of the contiguous states, camping and fishing along the way. Another endurance ride she made was the Three Flags, which takes in Mexico, the USA, and Canada in three days. On a motorcycle trip to Alaska, she rode to the Arctic Circle. Trudy founded the California Sunblazers chapter of Women on Wheels? and went on to serve the international organization as Board Member, Chapter Coordinator, and State Ambassador. She joined Bakersfield Green Thumb Garden Club and served as Newsletter Editor, Website Designer and President. Under Trudy's tenure, the Garden Club restored and continues to maintain, the grounds at the Lori Brock Museum and in front of Pioneer Museum. She believed that she became a better gardener because of Bakersfield Green Thumb Garden Club. Left to cherish her memory are her Life Partner, Sylvia Lee Thornton of Bakersfield; sister Rebecca Iris Buckingham and husband Kerry of Pearce, Arizona; many nieces and nephews; and friends from every place Trudy landed. In accordance with Trudy's wishes, no services will be held. She enjoyed her "Awake Party."
