JULES YOUNG BAILEY

ATHENS, LA. - Funeral services will be held for Jules Bailey,80,at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Monday, March 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.. Officiating will be Rev. John McClelland, assisted by Rev. Tommy Davidson. Interment will follow at Atkins Cemetery.. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Bailey was born in Athens on Feb. 9, 1925 and graduated from Athens High School in 1942. During World War II, Mr. Bailey served 3 1/2 years in the Pacific with the 344th Service Squadron of the Army Air Corp. He then returned to Athens where he married, raised his family and worked his farm. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Athens Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Henry Bailey; a son Gene Bailey and wife, Debbie of Longview, TX.; 4 daughters, Bonnie Jo Edwards and husband, Mike of Athens, Janis Gleason and husband, Billy of Ruston, Sherry Lantrip and husband, Ken of Ruston and Linda Harris and husband, Jim of Minden. Mr. Bailey is survived by eleven grandchildren, Chelsey Hall and husband, John of Allen, TX. Ryan Spigener and wife, Debbie of Athens, Becky Freeman and husband, Courtney of Bellevue, NE., Clint Gleason of Ruston, Angie Gleason of Ruston, Brad Lantrip of Ruston, Angie Gleason of Ruston, Brad Lantrip of Ruston, Carrie Lantrip of Ruston, Casey Aaron and husband Jeremy of Bossier City and Clay Harris of Ruston; three great-grandchildren, a special long time friend Albert Austin of Athens, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Grandsons, Ryan Spigener, Brad Lantrip, Leonard Bailey. Clent Gleason, Clay Harris and grandson-in-law, Jeremy Aaron will serve as pallbearers.

Special gifts and memorials may be made to the Athens Presbyterian Church or the Atkins Cemetery Fund.
