Winnie Norman Allen, 92, of Fort Worth, formerly of Corsicana and Canton, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Fort Worth. She was born July 9, 1917, to John and Ethel Hitt Lanier in Seagoville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Kay Reese Ward of Fort Worth and Beverly Ann Norman Williams of Plano; five grandchildren, Charles Reese Jr., Kristen Taylor, Eric Reese, John Williams Stanton and Jason Williams; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Earnest Norman; second husband, H.C. "Pete" Allen; granddaughter, Jennifer Williams; two brothers, Jasper and Morris Lanier; and sister, Helen Stout.

Winnie graduated from Seagoville High School, the University of North Texas at Denton and earned her master's at East Texas State University in Commerce.

She and her first husband, Alvin Norman, raised their two daughters in Canton, where she taught the second grade for many years. She and Alvin were involved in a car accident in 1963 which left Winnie a widow. After recovering from her injuries she moved to Corsicana to work as a Navarro County school supervisor. She retired from teaching and became a Realtor. She was named Realtor of the Year by the Navarro County Board of Realtors, rewarding her for her work establishing a real estate curriculum at Navarro College. She married H.C. "Pete" Allen of Corsicana and they traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Australia. After Pete's death in 1989 Winnie continued to run her real estate office in Corsicana until she retired for a second time at the age of 85. Winnie was a member of the Corsicana Westhill Church of Christ. She was an accomplished pianist and singer, she loved working with children, selling homes, fishing, travel, music, crossword puzzles, and playing "42."
