Dana Fay Drews, 53, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:26 p.m. Saturday (May 3, 2014) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beck Memorial Home in Bloomington, with the Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Dana was born April 4, 1961, in Bloomington, the daughter of Lester and Nina Crose Atkins Sr. Dana married Patrick Drews on Sept. 11, 1982, in Bloomington. He survives.

Dana is also survived by her children, John Drews and Lacey (Derek) Drews; grandchildren, Shawn Coyne, Tristan Drews and Laney Drews; brothers and sisters, Joyce Dow, Lester Atkins Jr. (Bubby); Kathy Atkins; Stoney Atkins; Debbie Atkins; and Scottie Atkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virgie Atkins.

Dana was a nurse for many years and worked in various healthcare facilities throughout Bloomington. She graduated from Capital Area School of Nursing in Springfield.

Dana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family dearly and nothing meant more to her than her grandchildren. You could always count on her for advice and she was known to be straightforward in her beliefs and opinions. She was the headship for our family. She worked throughout her career as a nurse. She gave so much of herself to others. She was blessed to have been surrounded by her loving family and friends during her passing. We are blessed to know that Dana is now with her dad and mom, and other family members.
