Former Atchison Resident Dies
Mrs. Bessie E. Arrison, 63 formerly of Atchison died Sunday after illness at Wesley hospital in Wichita. She suffered a stroke last Wednesday. Her maiden name was Bessie E. Shifflett and she was born Nov 7, 1887 at Water Valley CO, the oldest daughter of H. D. and Susan E. Shifflett. While still a young child she came to Kansas in a covered wagon, settling first at Monrovia and later moving to Atchison. She was married to John R. Meyer Aug 6, 1906 and he preceded her in death in 1912. On Aug 9, 1916 she was married to Charles H. Arrison. They lived in Atchison until moving to Wichita in 1942. Mr. Arrison died May 14, 1950. Two other sisters and one brother proceded Mrs. Arrison in death. Surviving are three sons, John E. Meyer of Millbrae, CA; Robert A. Meyer of Rockport, MO; Tom W. Arrison of Wichita; two daughters, Mrs. Marion Cox, Mrs. Bill Heiser, both of Atchison; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2pm at the Stanton Chapel here with burial at the Monrovia cemetery.
