John Roy Bowen, 87, formerly of Rockvale Drive, died at the Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on Friday, February 9, 2007.
A native of Greenville, he was the son of the late Robert Pickens and Jeanette Dalton Bowen.
Mr. Bowen was a machinist/tool-maker and was with Union Carbide before retirement.
Mr. Bowen was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lyndall Thomas, and brothers, Robert E. Bowen and William L. Bowen.
Survivors include his daughter, Jean Bowen Crowe, and her former husband Danny of Greenville; a son, Carroll Wayne Bowen, and his wife Evelyn of Simpsonville; and two grandchildren, Crystal A. Bowen and Laurie E. Bowen.
The family will receive friends at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, Sunday, February 11, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Services will be held Monday, February 12, at West Gantt First Baptist Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Danny Burnley and the Rev. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be in Graceland West Cemetery.
