It appears that Claus returned to Holstein, and wed Catherina there, bringing her back to Westside, Carroll, Iowa on 11 Feb 1880.
They raised, Anna, who was b. in Illinois in 1874. Then Bertha was born to them in 1883 nr Arcadia. Catherina was only 45 when she died on 12 Jan 1894, so she must have caught something bad. She was duly buried with other Erp Kin in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Maybe because Claus had 2 girls to raise, he quickly mar. Pauline JURGENS on the 3rd of Sep in 1894 in or nr Arcadia.
Claus sold ALL of the Erp Property, that he had gained by buying it from his older brother, Wilhelm, who had inherited the land in Sec. #7, and city lots, for $7,800 on 3 Aug 1899, to kin, Henry Joens, and soon moved to Texas where his brother, Wilhelm, had made a homestead.
F.Y.I. - Both Claus & Wilhelm d. in Texas.
