Obituary of Howard W. Alspaugh
(September 23, 1926 - December 22, 2012)

Gulfport, MS ~ Howard W. Alspaugh, age 86, of Gulfport, passed away on December 22, 2012 in Biloxi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee W. Alspaugh and Leona P. Alspaugh; his wife, Helen M. Alspaugh; and a sister, Texie Roberts.

He is survived by his son, Kirk W. Alspaugh (Bettye); two granddaughters, Tracy Bales (Mike) and Sheri Alspaugh; one grandson, Kirk W. Alspaugh, Jr (Kristy); and four great grandchildren, Caleb M. Bales, Chase W. Alspaugh, Caden R. Alspaugh, and Brynne L. Bales.

He was born in Dighton, KS on September 23, 1926. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1948. In 1951, he joined the United States Air Force and retired as Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years of service. He then worked for 10 years in Civil Service before retiring. From 1987 until 1 month ago, he played for church services at the Biloxi VA.

In each church that he attended, he was involved in some aspect of the music program, from Choir director to organist to pianist. Each year, he would take his accordion and go caroling with his church.

The number one love of his life was Jesus Christ. He gave his life to the Lord when he was 16 and remained committed to spreading God's Word through his entire life.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport with a visitation from 9:00 AM until the service. Burial with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
