Mrs. Dorothy Mullis Edwards, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing Home of Marshville.
Mrs. Edwards was born July 12, 1920 in Union County, daughter of the late Charlie Newton and Cornelia Benton Mullis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William H. "Bill" Edwards; infant twin daughters, Brenda and Linda Edwards; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Dwight, Chat, Carl and C.B. Mullis; sisters, Verla Donahue and Ollie Clontz.
Visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 2.45 p.m. at the Austin Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Edwards will begin at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Leon Whitley and the Rev. Frank Crump officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery beside her beloved husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha E. Hasty and husband, Wallace, of Monroe, Judy E. Davis and husband, Richard, of Wingate; two sons, Billy N. Edwards of Sanford, N.C., Tommy N. Edwards and wife, Linda, of Wingate; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
