WELLINGTON WENDELL DANSBY

Wellington Wendell Dansby, 82, of San Angelo died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Robert Lee Care Center.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Johnsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carol Fiero officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Wellington was an only child born to Charles Talmedge Dansby and Florence Olivia Rice Dansby on July 9, 1919, in Glen Cove, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and moved to San Angelo in 1930. In 1950, he became a San Angelo firefighter and retired in 1976. He was a member of Concho 1260 Masonic Lodge.

Wellington was married to Jo Kathryn Porch on August 2, 1949, in San Angelo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14,1983.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Penny Dansby of Alvarado, Texas, Mike and Sherry Dansby of Missouri City, Texas, and Dan and Cathy Dansby of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Mignon Dansby of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Keith and Elizabeth Stinnett.

Pallbearers will be firefighters and retired firefighters, Keith Stinnett, H.L. Turnbow, Jack Lowry, Gene Bell, Mike Bell and Duane Drew.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to VistaCare Family Hospice and Robert Lee Care Center.
