FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR H. C. H. DAMME
Funeral services were conducted for Herman C. H. Damme, 84, by Rev. A. L. Brueggemann at St. John's (McWilliams) Evangelical and Reformed church on Friday. He died last Wednesday at his home in Silver Creek, after an illness of three years.
Mr. Damme, son of William and Charlotte Damme, was born at Berger, Mo., on November 21, 1867, and spent his boyhood in Missouri. He came to Talmage at the age of 18 and worked for his brother, the late J. H. Damme. While here, he became a member of St. John's church. On October 24, 1894, he married Mary Katherine Brune at Wayne. He was in business at Wayne for about 30 years before moving to Silver Creek in 1921.
He is survived by his widow; five sons, Edwin, Elmer and Oscar of Sioux City, Iowa, Alvin of Columbus, Nebr., and George of Silver Creek; two daughters, Charlotte Longnecker of East Chicago, Ind., and Edna Layton of Lyons, Kans., and 16 grandchildren. A son, Herman, and a daughter, Johanna, preceded him in death.
