NOTES FROM OTHER RESEARCHERS:

White County Census of 1860 David Cozart is listed as age 26 with $400 real-estate and $300 personal property; and born in IL (probably in error) as his name appears with family of William P. Harvey – (probably given by some uninformed member of that family—16 August 1860 Vol 42 p. 147/80.)

He married twice as per later records here in. He was a farmer; served in Civil War (was discharged at St. Louis 1862) in Co "i", First Illinois cavalry and was ruptured when his horse fell on him in reiment of Lando Bourel (Later became a Judge and Congressman from Il. ; and while a resident of Enfield Twp. Received a government pension for his war service. David died about July, 1915 age 82 is buried in Kingdom Cemetery near Brownsville, Il.

(Note: He is said to have been 7 years old when his parents came to the Kingdom Baptist Church, White Co. Il. From Hardin Co., Ky. According to family tradition. He was 6' 3/4", light complexion, Blue eyes, dark hair. In 1938 he came to Il. And settled in Carmi township. David is said to have bought a farm or something like 74 acres near Kingdom Church, White Co. < Il for which he traded a horse (as part payment, seemingly); gave the farm to his father, Samuel; and the latter deeded it back later to David, who is said to have had a "grant of land from the government". This land is said to have been bought and possibly is still owned by Thomas Finley, of St. Louis ( d.1951)
