Ernest D. Arrington
Died: 05-09-1999 CHURCH HILL -- Ernest D. Arrington, age 77, Church Hill, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was a native of Hawkins County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He retired from General Shale in 1985 with 41 years of service. He attended Beech Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Matta Arrington in 1985; mother, Maude Hall Arrington Waye; father, Ellis Arrington; step-mother, Bessie Arrington; step-father, Morgan Waye; sister, Edith Davidson; brothers, Rev. Clarence Arrington and Hugh Arrington.
He is survived by his wife, Kate Lawson Moore Arrington of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Eddie and Brenda Arrington, Kingsport; step-son, Gerald Wade Moore, La-Place, LA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian Sue and Wesley Fitzgerald, Eidson, and Betty Jo and Roger Harris, Kingsport; two step-daughters, Carolyn Sue and Onzie Wallen, Kingsport, and Patty Regina Wright, Rogersville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren' six step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Arnold Paul Arrington, Emmitt, ID, Rev. Doug Arrington, Rogersville, Luther Arrington, Rogersville, and M.D. Waye, Kyles Ford; three sisters, Myrtle Albright, Rogersville, Lucille Manis, Eidson, and Jerlene Carmack, Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Walter Willis, Alvin Skelton and Doug Arrington officiating.
Military graveside services will beheld 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the Church Hill VFW Post #9754 officiating.
