Bill was married to Clema Kozak Archer for almost 48 years, and after her death he married Barbara Archer, his wife of nearly 20 years.
He is survived by his son and daughter; two grandchildren; two step-daughters; three step-grand children; and 10 step great-grand children.
Bill served as Lieutenant Commander, in World War II from 1942 to 1946 in the US Navy. From 1952 to 1972 Bill coached at Santa Rosa Junior College, Santa Rosa, CA.
Bill was a halfback for the Bears during some of Cal's finest seasons in football. He was honored by Cal in its athletic Hall of Fame. He was also honored by Santa Rosa Junior college athletes and is included in their Hall of Fame. Bill also spent two seasons as a professional baseball player with the Boston Red Sox.
