John Milton "Milt" Harrison was born in 1836 to parents William Harrison and Nancy Shepherd Harrison. He married Mary Jane Coppedge, and they ran Highgate Apple Farm on the old Harrison farm-place near Hwy 68 in Maries County, Missouri. John "Milt" Harrison was a Union soldier in the Civil War. He is buried in Dillon Cemetery in St. James, Maries County, Missouri. His headstone inscription reads:
" Co. H 11th MO Inf", signifying his service during the Civil War in Company H of the 11th Missouri Infantry. John "Milt" and Mary "Jane" Harrison were the parents of several sons and daughters.
