Doris was the daughter of George W. Harris and wife Nellie Cunningham. She married Kenneth Barcus on May 9, 1955 in Morgantown, West Virginia. They had four children: Gerald Thomas; Patricia Ann; Joseph Lynn; Robert Lee. Joseph and Robert were twins. The family was living in Grafton, West Virginia and Kenneth was employed as a kiln placer for the McNichol China Company in October 1962 when he had an accident while working on his automobile and was killed instantly.
